Secure your Site
Show visitors you are trustworthy
Having an SSL certificate on your website shows your customers that your
site is safe to browse. And that it is verified.
What is an
SSL certificate?
An SSL certificate is a protective measure that encrypts your website
and protects customer data.
Benefits of SSL
Business owners like you want SSL certificates for 3 benefits
01
The security “padlock” shows on internet browsers.
When you get an SSL on your website, a security padlock would appear on the address bar (shown right).
This padlock tells your visitors that:
- Your site is verified and secure
- It is safe to browse from any device
- Any data they enter is secure
02
Your site rank would boost on Google
Google made an SSL certificate a ranking signal. It now pushes websites with SSL up in the search results. And penalises those without.
With SSL certificate:
- Your website will show up higher in Google Search results
- You will get an increase in organic traffic to your website
- Your site credibility and authority will improve
03
A secure pathway between your server and users’ browsers
With an SSL certificates, your visitors will use a secure HTTPS protocol to access the site.
This protocol:
- Enhances data security for all users
- Is compatible with all websites
- Makes payment processing super-safe
How does an SSL work?
First the
handshake
When a visitor lands on your website, the SSL certificate forms a connection via HTTPS protocol with the server. This is called the handshake. This handshake lets the visitor’s browser fetch your site’s pages in a secure manner.
The padlock appears
on the visitor’s browser
After the handshake, the “padlock” appears on the browser of the visitor along with https beside the URL. The visitor would now know that your website is safe, reliable and verified.
The secure path
stays
The secure connection between the visitor’s browser and your site server doesn’t sever. Your site server would deliver your site via this path every time a visitor lands on your site.

FAQs
What’s the difference between partial and full encryption?
Partial encryption does not accessQ the full strength of the SSL certificate.
Full encryption, on the other hand, deploys the full-256 bit resource of the certificate.
Would my website’s ranking really improve when I get an SSL certificate?
Since August of 2014, Google has been considering SSL certificate a ranking signal (a lightweight one). So yes, provided your website provides value and excellent user experience, its ranking would go up with an SSL certificate installed.
Would my business name and base country show up on browsers?
With our SSL certificate, you would get the Padlock and the HTTPS prefix. For your business name and base country to show up on users’ browsers, you would need EV/OV type SSL. We provide it to business owners upon request. We also assist with the verification process.
Would the padlock show when people visit my website from phones and tablets?
Yes it would. No matter what device a person your visiting your website from, they would see the padlock.
On some sites, I see green padlock. On some, I see black. Is there a difference? Which colour padlock would I get if i get my SSL from you guys?
Since September 2018, Google Chrome has stopped showing the green padlock. It now shows a grey one for all sites with SSL installed on it. Mozilla Firefox, on the other hand, shows a green padlock for websites with regular SSL and full business name and base country beside the URL on the address bar for those with EV and OV SSL.
Would I get a discount if I buy multiple SSLs?
Yes you would. If you buy three or more SSL certificates, you would be rewarded a discount which is negotiable.
What documents do I need to get an SSL?
All you have to do is verify that you are the owner of your website domain.
Apart from SSL certificate, what other ways do you recommend for boosting my website rank?
Apart from SSL certificate, you can also optimise your website for search engines. After helping over a hundred clients rank their business websites, we can boil it down to the following:
- Make sure your title tags and meta descriptions for each page is of the optimum length.
- Add custom images on your site pages. Studies have found that custom images keep visitors engaged for longer time.
- Add proper alt-tags to the images on your site.
- Optimise text content of each page around relevant keywords and as per the visitors’ needs.

In case there are complications, the installation may take up to 5 business days.
Do i have to install the SSL certificate on my server myself?
No, our support team will cover the entire installation process.
Can I have recurring payment set up to pay for the SSL certificate? I don’t want to receive emails reminding me to pay for the renewal fee.
Yes you can definitely choose the recurring payment option. That way, you wouldn’t need to worry about checking your email and making the payment.
What if I forget to renew my SSL? What happens then?
Your website would lose rank on Google. As a result, your site traffic and conversion (and possibly revenue) would plummet as well. And in this case, you would need to repurchase the SSL certificate and go through the entire process again. It’s best if you choose recurring payment. In that case, the renewal process would be automated.
Do I have to validate my domain ownership every time I renew my SSL certificate?
Yes you would need to perform the domain verification every time you renew your SSL certificate. It needs to be done once every year And the process is very simple. So, you don’t need to worry about it.
How would I renew my SSL certificate?
With WebAlive, the renewal process is very simple. All you have to do is pay the renewal fee and you would be good for another year.
